The 2026 Subaru Impreza seats five with 20.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, plenty of room for a Highway 1 grocery run or a weekend surf trip toward Pleasure Point. Every Impreza pairs that practicality with a standard 11.6-inch touchscreen, and the RS trim adds a noticeably more premium cabin on top. Here’s what the 2026 Subaru Impreza interior actually offers, from front seat comfort to cargo room.

Seating & Passenger Space

The Impreza seats up to five, with 42.9 inches of front legroom and 36.5 inches in the rear, enough space for adult passengers on the climb up Highway 17 toward Scotts Valley. The Sport trim uses a 6-way manual driver’s seat with a 4-way manual passenger seat, while the RS keeps a manual base but adds an optional 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support. Both trims include 60/40-split, flat-folding rear seatbacks for when passenger space needs to become cargo space.

Cargo Space & Versatility

Behind the rear seats, the Impreza offers 20.4 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to 56 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, and 120.9 cubic feet of total interior volume. Standard roof crossbar mounting points make it easy to add a bike or surfboard rack for a run down to Capitola or Big Sur, and the RS trim includes a retractable, removable cargo cover to keep gear out of sight.

Interior Colors, Materials & Comfort

The Sport trim comes in Sport Cloth upholstery, black with red contrast stitching, an easy-to-clean look for daily commuting. Step up to the RS and the cabin shifts to RS Cloth upholstery with red accents, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter and aluminum alloy pedal covers for a sportier feel underfoot. Heated front seats come standard on the RS and are available on the Sport through the optional All-Weather Package, a welcome touch on foggy Santa Cruz mornings. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard across both trims, so front and rear passengers can each dial in their comfort.

Cabin Technology

Every 2026 Impreza comes with a standard 11.6-inch STARLINK Multimedia Plus touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can leave the cable at home. Both trims include front USB-A and USB-C ports, while the RS adds rear USB ports and a wireless charging pad. RS buyers can also opt into a Harman Kardon 10-speaker sound system with 432 watts of equivalent output for the drive along West Cliff Drive.

Interior comfort and tech scale up meaningfully between the Sport and RS trims, particularly around seating, materials, and charging. If you’re still deciding which trim fits your needs, our team at Santa Cruz Subaru can walk you through the full lineup in person.
